Let’s burn the rulebook

Fig. 1: The rule book. Burn baby burn.

The marriage of creativity and commerce has always been a rocky one. A constant battle between jamming and rigid structures. To those watching and for many of those taking part it looks like a high speed rollercoaster ride. Faced with a desperate struggle to create control everyone asks themselves the big question how can we create order?

And they come to a very simple answer

‘I know, let’s create some rules.’

With one swift leap we go from having all the colours in the rainbow to play with to ‘It has to be yellow.’

At OgilvyOne we believe Digital Direct is far too young to be constrained and restricted in this way.

Everything is changing too quickly for commandments that are etched in stone. We all need to be open to new learnings, new approaches, new best practices and we need to be able to share them.

Not rules, tools.

That’s why we’ve created this wiki, a neutral space where everyone can share their learnings and find tools they need to do great work. We hope you’ll not only find it useful, but also that you’ll join us in becoming a rule breaking tool maker.
